Remember the dial tone??

today i realized just how much i rely on modern technology..as i sat on the phone going through the dmv automated system pressing numbers and saying letters, getting kicked back to the beginning due to the noise in the background being picked up, i realized that this shit sucks!! what happened to hearing the dial tone of the phone, RING RING then a human voice coming through on the other end. Now its "press 1 for english" "to wait to speak to a representative your hold time is over 10 minutes we advise that you call back another day". What the HELL!! they know they are wasting my cell minutes..the last time i had a land line was over 5 years ago and i only used it to for my apartment intercom system. after spending almost 20 minutes trying to successfully get through the dmv automated system for an issue that only took approximately 2 minutes to accomplish I realized how much i miss having a phone in the home. At least all i had to do was pick the phone up, dial, listen to a couple of rings and hear a voice..now its text messaging, facebook, twitter and other tech shit i don't even know about which has eliminated the need for the human connection; the voice of the operator..i am guilty of being followers of these social sites and rarely using my speed dial or contact list on my cell phone. i just text a message insert who to send it to and hope that my reception is 100% in that area so the other person receives my message. if I'm sending the message in the form of a text does that mean it wasn't important enough to me or that person to say it verbally over the phone or does it mean that i don't want to call someone for a 1 minute question or we are at work texting instead or working (LOL i know I'm not the only one that does that)..texting is a lifesaver, but also an escape for some that would rather skip the subtleties of having a personal conversation with emotions, feelings and requirement an attention span, answer and response. with texting you don't have to express or fake anything and if you don't want to you can say that "you never received the text that's why you didn't respond..can you send it again??" do you remember the dial tone?? this is so random but o well LOL

  2. the internet is making the world smaller and smaller. no more having to pick up a heavy ass dictionary or encyclopedia to research, no more hassles of driving to the video store, you can just stream it. no more having full length conversations, it all boils down to one sentence texts.

kids these days got it easy.

hahaha. i sound like a cranky old man.
